Three Turkish Super Lig clubs are in talks to sign Nigerian forward David Okereke, following his impressive performances for Gaziantep FK this season.

With Victor Osimhen being the only Nigerian player with more goal contributions in the Turkish Super Lig, Okereke’s displays have attracted interest from Besiktas, Trabzonspor, and Samsunspor, who see him as a potential signing ahead of the 2025-2026 season.

Though his loan deal with Gaziantep FK includes a option, he is unlikely to return to Cremonese, with the plan being to either stay in Turkey or move back to Serie A.

Okereke, who previously played for Spezia, Cosenza, Club Brugge, Venezia, and Torino, was called up to the Super Eagles in 2019 but did not make his international debut.

David Okereke’s rise in the Turkish Super Lig highlights his goal-scoring abilities and adaptability. His performances have made him a hot prospect for top Turkish clubs, and moving to Besiktas or Trabzonspor could offer him the chance to play in European competitions next season.

The former Nigeria U23 international, who is currently on loan from Italian club Cremonese, has been in outstanding form, scoring seven goals and providing two assists in 20 league matches since joining Gaziantep FK in September 2024.

For the Super Eagles, Okereke’s current form raises the question of whether he deserves another national team call-up. With Nigeria’s striking options already competitive, he must continue delivering standout performances to force his way into the squad.

If he secures a move to a top Turkish club, Okereke could further establish himself as one of Nigeria’s top strikers in Europe.
